Welcome Sign

I love crafting and trying new, different crafting materials. There is always one I keep coming back to and that is plastic canvas. I wanted a welcome sign but couldn't find the right one that i wanted to make. So, I came up with my own its a wreath made up of dog tags.

3 Plastic Canvas Sheets
Materials needed for this project are:
  • yarn (color optional)
  • plastic canvas sheets
  • plastic canvas needles
  • scissors

First, you want to gather all your materials. This way you have everything in front of you and get comfortable because this will take some time, lol.

18 x 22

Once you have all the materials it is time to cut the plastic canvas sheets into three sections, each sheet makes up nine rectangles eighteen by twenty-two.

Template

Second, use your template to cut each rectangle into the shape of dog tags.

Then you will end up with a pile or stack of the templates cut outs.

27 cutouts in total

Third, you will need yarn to stitch out each letter:

  • U-S-N-A-V-Y (US is optional)
  • W-E-L-C-O-M-E

Note: I decided to not use U and S, felt it was to much.

Fourth, here we start to sew or weave the yawn throughout the canvas. The font, I had to search Pinterest for the different fonts that would fit and look, that I was looking for.

Start weaving in the yawn.

As you can see with these pictures, this is what the finished look should look like front and back. You will also need to make blank ones as well.
This is what it will look like you attach together.
Tie it all together, literally!

Fifth, You will need to use your yawn and attach each of the letter words first. Then add the blank ones to give the wreath more depth.
Last, I cut a octagon shape because my wreath needed something to look more like a wreath and not a droopy wreath. I cut and used yawn to weave throughout the frame. After, I attached to the frame of the wreath.

This is what is should look like after you are completely done making and attaching you wreath together!

A Lot Has Changed!

A lot has changed since I last posted... wish I could go back and write everything...but can't... So here is the update...

    1. Going through a deployment is not just rough on the family but the sailor as well. Sometimes deployment can tear a marriage apart... well, it broke ours for a while...still to this day we are working to strengthen it everyday.

    2. Marriage is not easy, we had our ups and downs. A lot of downs for years since my last post, than we did marriage therapy it didn't work useless both of us were in are own separate therapy. Since we realized that both of us have to have our own therapist and both seen for a while than we will go back to marriage counseling.

    3. We bought our first home, moved in, tried to make a loving home for all of us, than, which we had to leave behind do to financial reasons and lost of money. Moved back into Military Housing, yeah...lol.

    4. Found some help with the kids, Respite Care Provider, to give us a break to do whatever, i.e. date nights. She has been with us for six years and like a Nana to my children and a second mother to hubs and I. So grateful to have her in our lives. We have 4 children now! Also, added another fur baby to the family.

    5. Worked on getting my degree in Human Resource Management (HRM) and graduated with the highest honor: Summa Cum Laude!

    6. Got into playing game on my phone which took a lot of time in my day and my great escape from life. Hubs and I both were playing for like five years...We stepped away from that game. Started playing World of Warcraft (WOW) with my sisters, my mom and hubs. We can enjoy my time with the children with this game... We can step away at anytime...loving it.

    7. Got back into canning again and different crafts. Even made up a Facebook page called Drama Llama Krafty Mama. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/dramallamakraftymama.

I know it been years since I last posted and now with the update you have caught up.
